I don't know what the communication difficulty is, but clearly the
developers live on a different planet if they think 36696 is fixed in 2.0.1.
They have apparently pushed the target milestone for this back to
v2.0.2. There must be some difficulty/debate going on internally that we
aren't seeing.
I can confirm from testing with build 680m155 that the problem of blank
line suppression is indeed fixed in Mail Merge, and it's a nice,
automatic solution that should meet everyone's requirements.
However the problem is still present in label creation, although Hidden
Paragraphs can be successfully utilised to suppress blank lines if a
template based approach is used to create the labels.
I cribbed the syntax required for the "Condition" field in the Hidden
Paragraph dialogue from the output of a mail merge. It works just fine.
