No sooner did we hang up then I went to test the "solution" (see below) and I got the General Input/Output Error! I had previously copied dialog.xlc and script.xlc (both 987 bytes)from C:\Program Files\OpenOffice.org 2.0\presets\basic to C:\Documents and Settings\Pete Holsberg\Application Data\OpenOffice.org 2.0\user\basic
After I got the error message, I checked the Docs and Settings...basic directory to see if the two new fiels had been changed and they had not. Still 987 bytes, still 7/20/2005.
