When you merge cells in Calc where there are values in other than the top left cell you are asked if you want to move the values to the top left cell. Only the current value is moved, not any formulas or formats. I agree that this is logical if there are multiple cells with values but if there is only a single cell with a value, it would be nice if it is moved with the formula and format.
Maybe the best thing would be is to change the wording of the warning box from "Should the contents of the hidden cells be move into the first cell?" to "Should the values in the hidden cells be move into the first cell?
