I had a similar problem with barcode fonts exporting to PDF. Acroread
showed Times or something else instead.

I set up a PDF printer device (which uses ghostscript) and the barcode
fonts are there ok. So I think it's the PDF export that's doing the
substitution in a way that the user can't control. I have my barcode
fonts correctly registered via the OOo spadmin tool (I'm on Linux).
