Thanks for help, especially to Conrad Newton (Bestix) and Sigrid Kronenberg, who led me to ooowiki.de. This useful web site, which indeed I didn't know yet, proved I had all done correctly (1). Finally, the problem turned out to be one of fonts used. When I tried to open other Russian word files in OOo, everything was OK. The difference: those I had tested before were all in Time1TCY, the others in Times New Roman. Time1TCY seemes to be a font too exotic for my OOo Writer. When I saved the problem files having changed the font, Writer had no more any problems. As to how to change in a simple way language and keyboard for or within a document, I found at last the possibility to fix key-combinations in Windows language setting register. So OpenOffice was not to be blamed. (1) By the way the "Format - Absatz" - Menue has no "Schrift" register (at least in my german OO.o2.) Bye Peter -- mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]
