Hi there,
I have a 'weird' problem with using OpenOffice2 (latest download)
I have it on a pc with Windows Me as OS. I can browse the LAN network
(just workgroup, not domain), and find the MS Excel files on another
pc, but when trying to open the files I just get an error, that the
files does not exist..... just doesn't wanna open the file for editing.
I can copy the file to the local pc, work on it in OpenOffice, and Save
As it back to it's network location on the other pc.
I just can't open the file directly....
Any idea what the problem could be?
I suspect that the problem might be with the fact that this pc has only
got WinMe on it, as I tried doing the same from a WinXp machine and it
opens the files over LAN just fine.
Any comments and assistance will be very much appreciated.
Thanx a lot, have a wonderful day!

Your Win ME computer is not set up properly on your LAN. Other than that,
I can not be of much help.

Hi. Did you check, in file types, the Edit Filetype dialog (Open - Properties)? In Windows 98 (Swedish) it looks like:
"C:\Program\OpenOffice.org\program\soffice.exe" -o "%1"

Your problem reminds me of a problem I had a couple of months ago, and I found that " -o "%1 was missing. I could only open documents from within OpenOffice, not by clicking them, at least not if the name of the file contained spaces.

I guess that the line should look like this, in an English Windows 98 and ME:
"C:\Program files\OpenOffice.org\program\soffice.exe" -o "%1"
Just check if the last stuff is there and add it if it's not there, I guess...

Maybe this is not your problem at all, I just thought I'd better mention it anyway.
