I just installed 2.0.3 and I have the 'Check for updates' option under
help. Clicking does check. I've got build 9044. (help / about - ctrl SDT)

you can find the specification document for this new feature here:

this is work in progress, so it is possible that the menu command is
not yet visible in your build of OOo.
For "full version" I guess we meant that this feature is not part of
any patch or update file set, but I will check that and change the
help accordingly to make it more precise.
