I don't use Writer very often, I am a Calc kind of guy, but when I do I use styles. Just for once I found that I needed to write two documents at the same day and I almost immediately ran into problems:
First of all, I am not happy with those predefined styles, such as "standard", "brödtext", "överskrift 1", "överskrift 2", "citat" etc. Yes, I use the Swedish version of OpenOffice.org 1.1.5. Unlike OpenOffice.org 2.0, I can't switch to English and back again by just selecting something in the Tools -> Options dialog, so I really don't know what those styles are called in English, but really, does it really matter..? I guess that "standard" is named "standard" or "default" in English anyway. Since I am not happy with most of the settings I found it to be easiest to just change the predefined styles to what I need them to be like and then just continue typing. So I wrote my document and saved it. Now I wanted to write the next one, using the styles I've just modified. I was very surprised when I found that the modified styles wasn't modified any longer. So how do I make OpenOffice.org 1.1.5 to remember that I modified its predefined styles? Should I rather have made new styles instead of modifying existing ones? It seems like style editing only follows the document in which I modified them. How can I modify styles globally? Best regards Johnny
