Microsoft Java will not work with OpenOffice.org (OOo). However,
there are only a few features in OOo that require Java. They are the
wizards and part of Base (the database section). Otherwise, as the
other person mentioned, OOo works quite well without Java.
As far a Base is concerned, Java is required if you are using it
to create a relational database from scratch.
