I am using version 2.0 of OpenOffice.org. My problem is that I can not get my spell check to work. Help!!!
There are a couple of possible problems. We will need more detailed information to be able to help you. But I'll try to explain the most usual issues:
1) You must have installed a dictionary of the language that you write in. You can add extra dictionaries with <File->Wizards->Install new dictionaries>. You should exit openoffice after installing new dictionaries. Please, remember to close also the quickstart if you are using it (in windows, the openoffice icon near the clock).
2) Openoffice have multi-language spell checks capabilities. That means that it can check a document that is written in various languages. You can highlight some words, right-click on it and select character in the menu that will appear. A window will pop-up. There will be a box there with a language selector. Please set it to the language that you want to spell check. You should see a mark at the left of the language. That means that the dictionary for this language is installed.
