G'day Jack
I love your programs but i want something that is comparable to Microsoft Professional. I need to post and manage my website and i need a program to do it with, can you help me out?
I learnt some time ago that you don't need to get all of your software from the same vendor.
You have already received some comments that indicate that OpenOffice.org can create web sites, but that it is not the recommended way to create them. The same thing is often said of Microsoft Frontpage! ;-) If you're just looking to create a simple web site and don't want to learn a new program, then you might want to give OpenOffice.org a try. Just select File / New / HTML Document from the menu.
If you are more serious about creating web sites, then you have two options:
1. Text-based programs where you create web sites by typing code. ConTEXT is a program like this that has already been recommended. There are others that you may want to research, but based on your question, I'm not sure you are really after this sort of program. But if you are serious about creating web sites, it is worth learning some HTML code.
2. WYSIWYG (what you see is what you get) programs, that allow you to create a web site with tools similar to a word processor. This is the sort of program that Microsoft Frontpage is, although Dreamweaver does a much better job (and is also much more expensive). In terms of free programs, I think that NVu (www.nvu.com) is the most promising program at the moment. There is a good users guide for NVu at http://www.nvudev.org/guide/1.0PR/
