Hi Lori

Welcome aboard.

Look at http://user-faq.openoffice.org/faq/ar01s05.html and about one
screen page down you will see "Spellcheckers." I think this will at
least get you started.

You probably should look at some of the documents under the big
"General" section also especially _"Is there an introductory document
for Writer ?"_  Learning to use styles to apply language attributes will
make you much more productive.
