That's exactly correct. Once I helped a guy who was creating a
songbook and wanted his song title style to align to the outside
margin, whichever side of the page that happened to be on, which
of course depends on whether the page is odd- or even-numbered.
It was easy to do in Word, as I explained here. But I see no way
of doing this in OO.

And while frames can be specced to the outside margin, nor do I
see any way of invoking a frame from a saved frame style. That
seems so illogical that I suspect I'm missing something, but one
never knows.

The problem is with expanding text. If one were to annotate
anywhere in the document, the choice of right- or left-aligned
would be unreliable for every affected paragraph thereafter,
depending on whether it had been shifted to a succeeding page.

I think this is an area that could use some firming up.
