Posters:

When replying to non-subscribed posters, please take the time to read the OPs
address. Several posters post from GMANE which supply this mailing list
through their news server service. I look for gmane.org as part of the
address. Another source is Google Groups. Again, looking at the header will
show that the message originated from Google. Also, it has become a habit to
'steal' threads. This means taking over a discussion about one subject and
using it for another. Please start with a new message to this list whenever a
new topic needs to be discussed. Some threads have been marked for deletion
and your very important message was just deleted.

Also posts were made in the past where posters forgot to include very important
information and thus some replies (including some from me) have had to be based
upon assumptions (and we don't have to discuss what this does.) Please, when
making a new post, include the following information items. It will allow some
of us to skip your message (we don't work with Linux/Mac OS X/Windows for
instance) and leave replies to those more experienced/knowledgeable.

Please include the following items, they will assist us (as a bunch of
volunteers) to help you faster:

1. Operating system
2. CPU type (Intel, AMD 64, Power PC, Sparc (yes, OpenOffice does run on
Solaris systems.))
3. Amount of RAM (if you complain of slowness, you might be running
OpenOffice.org with a marginal amount of memory.)
4. Version of OpenOffice.org you are running. This can be obtained by looking
at Help then the About window. The version is located just above the OK button.
5. What you were doing at the time you experienced a problem.

Lastly:
You may be disappointed to read "Please file an issue on this". You will need
to access the OpenOffice.org web site and register. Then you can file an
issue. Please do yourself and us a big favor. Query to see if you problem was
discovered by another OpenOffice.org user or one of the Quality Assurance team
or a developer. If this is the case, please VOTE on this issue. The more
VOTES, the more importance can be placed on an issue and may actually up the
priority of an issue. If no one has filed an issue on what you found, or you
cannot find a like issue, please create a new one. Please keep issues to a
single topic. When you file your issue, please use a summary that describes the
problem as accurately and as specific as possible. Stating "OpenOffice.org
does not work" is not good for a message subject and is definitely not helpful
when filing an issue. "OpenOffice.org crashes to desktop when attempting to
paste from Web Site into Calc cell" will be fantastic. Also, please include a
step-by-step process to recreate what you experienced so those of us on the QA
confirmation team can recreate your problem.

Thank you for your time.
