As a reader, I would probably look at the bottom of the page. But I sort of
agree with your reasoning. There are probably better ways to achieve my
goal, which is simply to have a frame (i.e. borders) around a table,
including the table caption. Some of the table entries have footnotes that
explain their meaning.

Hi Marcus

If all you want is a border around a table, you can achieve this with a right-click in the table, choose "Table" and then choose the "Border" tab. You can arrange borders however you like with this.
