Sorry I cannot answer your question about Windows ME However File > Open> then select from Files of type and one two of the selections should be Microsoft Word (*.doc) and Microsoft Excel (*.xls,*.xlt) The file types are defined in terms of various versions of Word and Excel. Try alternative on the same screen to leave the "all files" selected and look in the correct folder for the file.
