Barbara:

This is why we recommend installing to the Applications folder.

However, this will not help your situation, so I will give the following
VOLUNTEER advice:

1. Go to the Applications folder.
2. Open the Utilities folder.
3. Find the Terminal application and open/start it.
4. Type in the following command:
     find . -name '*.dmg'
This will search all of the folders for the current user
for files ending in .dmg to include the Trash.
If you do not find this file, you can revisit the
OpenOffice.org site and download it a second (
or if needed a third, fourth, fifth, etc. time.)

Please, after downloading the .dmg file, place the
OpenOffice.org 2.1 item in your Applications folder.

If you wish, to remove it, instructions can be
found at the Mac Porting FAQ site which can be accessed
from http://porting.openoffice.org/mac
