Dear sir I have in the past figured out myself how to convert a .csv file to a spreadsheet (.ods or .xls) file. it seemed so easy at the time, but now i must be getting stupid, for somehow I cannot seem to get to the right solution! I have never asked help from you before, as I could always figure it out myself, but this time I am stumped!! It would be appreciated, if you could tell me how to do it. I have openOffice 2.1. Thanks for your help, Best regards, Frank Kratz
Manually change the file extension to ".csv". This should cause it to open in Calc. If you don't, do this, it will probably open in Write.
Also, without changing any extensions, within Calc, you can select the menu item Format -> Sheet from file ... . Select the file you want from the dialog box that pops up. Another dialog box will then pop up. You may have to click on a sheet to make the OK button active, but don't touch anything else unless you know what you are doing. Click OK. Your file will be inserted.
