When I create bulleted text, it is always too far to the right.I then select the "format/bullets and numbering menu" and press the "default" button.
For bullets, the best way is to use the Stylist (F11), open the Bullet/Numbered List pane (last right icon on the left of the Stylist) and then apply a style that you customize.
