Dennis, this sounds more like a problem with your operating system, and as
such lies a bit beyond the scope of this list.

Try updating windows, and if that doesn't work, you may need to contact
Microsoft technical support.

I am using Windows XP and I am having problems downloading your "Open
Office" software. Background I am somewhat ignorant about Computers and my
Son-in-Law does all my work. I am currently 3200 miles from him. He loaded
your Open Office on our new Computer and we love it. He also transferred
many files to a external hard drive for use to download onto Old Computer
at our winter home with Windows Office Software.

After having problems opening a few of the files that I have transferred
from external drive to on board drive, I tried to down load your
software. Tried 3 times and always get to the same point where I get this
message.

"The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed.
This can occur if you are running Windows in safe mode
or if the Windows Installer is not correctly installed.
Contact your support personnel for assistance."

Would ordering your Installation Disk solve my problem? In the past this
has helped me install things that I could not install by down loading
online.

Son-inLaw has upgraded old computer to XP Pro, and 120 GB hard Drive and
2- 512 GB RAM chips.

Thank You Dennis Nilsson
