Is there a one-step equivalent in Calc to Excel's
"Insert Cut Cells" after one has "Cut" a row? I can't
see how to do it without taking the extra steps of (1)
inserting a new row before pasting the contents into it
and (2) deleting the old row.
Have been a subscriber to this list for a couple of
weeks now, and have learned a lot. Hoping someone can
add to that knowledge now, on something that has been
puzzling me for a while. :-)
Kind Regards,

I find the behavior of OO Calc very odd when trying to
insert a row (or column) of data. One can 'Copy' a row,
and using a PasteSpecial option, insert the row. But if
one 'Cuts' the row, PasteSpecial only allows you to
'overwrite' or 'shift right'. With cutting an entire
row, this will fail. Cutting a column behaves the same.
It gets even stranger. If you take your 'Cut' row and
'Paste' it to some row, you then can use the
'PasteSpecial' option to insert a row with the proper
shift. Trying to insert a 'cut' column will only allow a
'shift down' in 'PasteSpecial.
Trying to insert cells behaves similarly.
It is like the default row or column 'insert' movements
are reversed.

Why are you using pastespecial and not just paste?
Using 'Paste' will overwrite the row selected. Wendy wanted to 'cut' a
row and then insert into a new location using one step. 'PasteSpecial'
has the ability to insert the new row between two rows, but the default
option only allows you to paste in place or 'shift right' and insert.
This will fail because you cannot 'shift right' a complete row. The
same thing will happen when trying to insert a column. The default in
'PasteSpecail' is to 'shift down'for inserting a column. The correct
options are grayed out. This only happens with the first
'PasteSpecial'. If you were to 'paste' the copied row to a new row,
then the options are available in 'PasteSpecial' to insert the 'cut'
row. This behavior does not occur if you use 'copy' instead of 'cut'.
But it again requires an extra step to delete the copied row.
