My problem in this regard will be slightly different; when I finally
retire my old machine and get a new one, I'll probably still have to pay
the "Windows tax" for the inclusion of a system I'll scrub pretty well
immediately.

Yep - OOo will work fine on Vista. There are some minor issues
that will be worked out in the up and coming 2.2 version of OOo.

asking for Vista to be added to the Windows download button

Let's hope it helps reduce the Vista flood.
