[users] Upgrade

I am using an E-Machine that originally had Micro Soft Windows98, Windows Word 
- used mainly for word processing, article, letters,.. etc.   I had my computer 
upgraded, I thought, but wound up with Word Pad which is ok, but I want to get 
back to the more sophisticated  Windows Word with footnotes, etc.     Can you 
help me?
