But, the main thing it should be able to do is the same thing that it does at install time - reset its own associations - take over the associations for MS Office files - or reverse its association with MSO files...
If you find OpenOffice.org in the Add/Remove Programs section of the control panel, does it give you the option of modifying your setup? (I think it does, but can't remember for sure.) If so, it should take you through the setup options again, including restoring file associations.
