I am a dinosaur who has been using "Lotus" forever. Will openoffice read

I don't have any Lotus files to play with but if you open Calc and then
choose File>Open, Lotus 1-2-3 (*.wk1, *.wk2 and *.123) is one of the listed
file formats under "Files of type:" This is on my Win XP system with OO 2.2.
earlier versions, or versions on different OS's may not provide the same
facilities.

Oh. Macros - if such things exist in Lotus, *probably* won't work and will
need re-writing.

There is some discussion at
http://www.bytebot.net/openoffice/faq.html#Compatibility2 - search the page
for "lotus"; there are a few references.

So my answer is "suck it and see". OpenOffice is free to download. It's also
free to use on any computer(s) you like in any context (personal, business
etc.) you like. it's also free to distribute to others.
