[users] Word Compatibility

Hello.
I just installed Open Office as an alternative to Word, because they will no
longer let me edit Word Documents.
When I opened a Word file with Open Office, I noticed that some of my Word
formatting had changed.  I am just wondering, will I be able to restore that
formating, and will any edits I make still be there, should I open the
document with Word?
