Maybe you will find a serious problem that needs to be fixed. Or you just want to see if it worth to make the upgrade to 2.3 when it will be released. As for stable versions or not you should look in the download page: http://download.openoffice.org/index.html AFAIK only the officially announced non-development builds are called stable by definition. Thus even the best current developer build with no known serious problems wouldn't be called stable.
