[users] did i install open office prperly[moderated] YOU MUST GIVE A SUMMARY HERE

I tried to down openoffice2.2 but i dont know if it is really installed and 
functioning propery and what can i do w/ open office. I mistakenly deleted 
microsoft word can I get the same service w/ open office.How do I use open
