No, you can't start at the bottom. You have to find the top of the oldest section and read it from top to bottom, then zig-zag your way back to the top, finding each section and reading it top to bottom, then finding the next section, reading it from top to bottom, etc. Lookout forces you to do this, and after about three responses it becomes impossible to reconstruct the conversation. When you get added to a thread late, heaven help you if you actually need to figure out how that thread evolved.

But, if you would trim the extraneous comments from each layer, and only keep the relevant material, it becomes much easier to look up who said what and when in the thread. If you want to skip the previous material, learn the keystroke to go to the end of the message.
