I have only briefly looked at the functions of ABCpdf and I don't immediately see what additional feature you could gain. If you want to open a ".doc" file in OOo (OpenOffice.org) then a simple "File -> Open" will do the job. If you then want to output that file in PDF format, a straight forward "File -> Export as PDF" is all that is needed.
