If you want to create a slide show, you should be using Impress. (File
> New > Presentation)
May I also suggest you download some manuals from
http://documentation.openoffice.org/manuals/oooauthors2/. You might want to
start with "Getting Started with Impress", or you might want some of the
chapters in the Impress Guide that are also available on this web page.
