That is doing things the hard way. They very hard way. Option # 1 is to use outline numbering, setting the number to "none". Option # 2 is useful only if you need headers for more than 10 paragraph styles. (If that is needed, then ask. It takes about 50 lines to explain how to set this up.) >in books with several chapters you don't want the header to appear on the first page. I see no other solution in OpenOffice than to have one extra page style in the beginning of each chapter to avoid a header on the first page of each chapter. * Title page style, with no headers; * Left page style , with headers and footers. * Right page style, with headers and footers. * Chapter page style, with no headers * Front matter left page style; * Front matter right page style; * Copyright page style; * Appendix left page style; * Appendix right page style; * Appendix page style; Configure the paragraph style for chapter headers to force a new page of style "chapter page style" before the header. Those ten page styles should more than adequately do what you are trying to do. xan jonathon --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED] For additional commands, e-mail: [EMAIL PROTECTED]
