No they are not. If you still have MS Works on your computer, open MS
Works and save them as .rtf files.
Did you actually try the converter on
http://www.microsoft.com/products/works/downloads.mspx ?
Sometimes the program will be listed as Win98 but will work (no pun
intended) on XP.
And while you're at it, you might want to take a complete inventory of
all of your files in case there are any Microsoft Works or other files
that OpenOffice doesn't open. This includes any backups you may have.
