Open Office will work on your Mac if it runs a reasonably current version of OS X. You have a number of choices at this time. The standard version works under the X-11 window manager which means that you need to install it from the OS installation disk for OS X 10.4 or download it and install if if you are using OS X 10.3. You also could use NeoOffice/J an implementation that runs natively on the Mac and uses Java. And finally there are builds available for the port of Open Office native to the Mac which is still in development.
