[users] open office 2.3 crash

I have completed most editing of a document for a catalog. My computer
stops and the program will not respond. I cannot recover the file to print, it 
opens with no cursor. Is there a way to recover the file so it can be printed.? 
using open office 2.3 running windows xp with 256mb ram. 2.4ghz celeron.
