Anton,
Does your download have an RPMS folder?
If so, use rpm2targz to convert them to tarballs (see
http://slackware.osuosl.org/slackware-8.1/patches/source/bin/rpm2targz
for the script) and untar them as root in the real root (/) directory.
This simple bash shell script will help give you OOo in /opt. Copy the
script to /usr/local/bin and/or /usr/bin.
Assuming the OOo is in /home/anton,
cd OO*/RPMS && ls
for each file, use the filename to convert it to tar.gz
rpm2targz Open*core*
then as root,
cd /
tar xvzf /home/anton/OO*/RPMS/Open*core*gz
until all untarred.
To see the possible applications,
cd /opt/openoffice.org.2.*/programs
ls s*
Link/add the relevant application paths to your office menu if the
desktop integration folder is no help.
MSAccess support won't be there in the database, but otherwise it should
work well.

Hello Giulio,
Please give us some more information: operating system (Windows,
Mac...), version of OpenOffice.org .
Maybe start with a restart (including Quickstarter if you have it)...
