You can tell him that he's free to pass it around and install it on as many computers as he wants. There is no restriction whatsoever. You can find license info here: http://www.openoffice.org/license.html Also, while you can install individual OpenOffice components, it's not recommended, as it won't save much space and it may reduce functionality. So, just install the entire OpenOffice package.
