I have looked long and hard but can't see how to turn off certain
"helpful" settings in OO Writer. In particular, I wish to disable these:
i) when some text is selected, moving the mouse moves the text (my
mouse control is not good enough and it happens too often when I
don't want it to that I wish, as per MS Word, to disable it)
I don't know that you can disable this, but there are two possibly
useful tricks:
o If you spot what is happening (from the shape of the cursor)
before you release the mouse button, you can press Esc to disable the drag.
o After the unwanted move takes place, you can immediately undo it
using Edit | Undo or Ctrl+Z.
ii) cntl-downArrow moves a paragraph downwards, perhaps useful if I
could re-train myself to this, but how can I disable it (I'm used to
the same combo moving down a line in Evo mail without moving the cursor)
o Go to Tools | Customize ... | Keyboard.
o Make sure that the Writer radio button is selected.
o Scroll down in the "Shortcut keys" box to Ctrl+Down.
o Press Delete.
I trust this helps.
