I've taken over a monthly newsletter and one regular feature has a
masthead (if that's the right term) that includes a graphic and a
short bit of fontwork text. Whenever I move the heading around I
have to manually reposition the two components with respect to each
other. I've tried to select them together (select one and hold down
the shift key to select the other) but I can't seem to succeed at
that. Is there any way to group the graphic and the fontwork text
so that they become a single object?
Are you working in text (Writer) document? Like you, I cannot see
how to group items there. But you can do this in Draw.
o Open a Draw document.
o Paste in the two items.
o Group the two items. To do this, either click one and then
shift-click the other, or click the Select icon in the Drawing
toolbar and then drag a box around the two items.
o Copy the grouped items and paste the group into your Writer document.
Once you have done this, you can use Format | Group > | Enter Group
in Writer to enter the group, so that you can edit the items
separately and adjust their relative position and size.
I trust this helps.
