I am unable to insert a picture/document from my Epson Stylus
DX5000 Printer/Scanner. Open Office does recognize the
scanner/printer. The problem has appeared since upgrading to Open
Office 2.3.1 . The programme and my scanner both freeze and I have to
close them via the task manager My scanner works O.K with other
programmes and it's drivers are up to date.Is this a known issue and

What Operating System are you using? For example, using Google I found
this in a discussion about an identical problem to yours but with a
different scanner:

When OOo was installed in Mandriva 2008 x 64 there was not a 64 bit
version of OOo available, accordingly the 32 bit OOo was installed.
There is now a 64 bit version of OOo available. So the 32 bit version
was removed together with it's hidden files and the 64 bit version
installed.

Can you scan directly into a file and then include the file? Most
scanners offer this facility.
