Yes, your test does seem to confirm the behavior I am seeing, with the
exception being that in ways that are a little more complex then you are
describing, if there is a lot of graphic data in many cells, and you
delete intervening rows, some of the graphics (but not all, and I have
yet to figure out a way to predict) seems to be preserved and show up in
cells that are still on the sheet.
Yes, it does seem intuitive to me that graphics "anchored" to a cell
should behave like anything else (text or formulas) in a cell. It is
fine with me if I could anchor the graphics to a piece of text in the
cell (an option that does not seem to be provided) because that way,
presumably, if the text moved due to a sort or deletion or insertion,
the graphics would follow it.
If indeed I am out of luck, on this project I am out of luck in a very
big way. I guess I should look at the bug reporting system.
