Open Office is very very slow to load because it loads a lot. Unlike
MS Office which is a collection of separate programs, Open Office is
one very large program. So the bouncing is normal. You will get the
prompt saying that it timed out. Just click on the OK button and Open
Office will continue to load. The problem is due to changes Apple made
in their implementation of X-11 which has to load before Open Office
can run.
When Open Office opens you will get a blank word processing document.
You can then load a word processing document or select new from the
file menu and get another type of document such as a spreadsheet.

I downloaded the program with Safari and, when I tried running the

then downloaded with Firefox and tried running the program and the

reason I'm trying to get the office suite is because my Windows
Office disk is not compatible with leopard, and Word crashed.
I would appreciate any assistance you can give me, as quickly as
possible, since I use Word on a daily basis.
