I note there has been no response from here yet, probably because no-one
else here has this problem. I certainly don’t.
I suggest you tell us what your operating system is, eg. Suse Linux,
Windows XP or whatever.
Note that OpenOffice.org does not support .XPS output directly. So it
tentatively looks to me like one of your printer drivers or a printer
utility is setting your printing to .XPS format, not OpenOffice.org.
See if you can print properly using other products on your computer.
Check your current printer properties in OpenOffice.org through File ->
Printer Settings. What printer is it? Click on the Advanced button and
check all settings.
Check the same printer through the operating system which often allows
you to set options not accessible to applications. In Windows go to the
Start Menu, select “Printers and Properties”. In the Window that pops up
right click on the printer you are currently using in the OpenOffice.org
Writer documents that are causing trouble and select “Properties” from
the menu. See what the setup is.
Also have you an .XPS utitilities on your system? If you have, try
disabling them.
