There is something of a workaround which may help.
o Go to Tools | Options... | OpenOffice.org Writer | General |
Settings | Measurement unit, and select there what you want to appear
in the rulers (inches, apparently).
o When you wish to set the values you indicate, you can type the
unit along with the value into the Paragraph or Paragraph Style
dialogue box. Even if your unit is set to inches, you can type "14
pt" or whatever directly into the various boxes on the Indents & Spacing tab.
