I have a Template called Service Report which is a Writer document, with my
letterhead on it, and the words SERVICE REPORT typed under the letterhead.
Under the "SERVICE REPORT" heading I have a 2 column table where I fill in
the usual details:
JOB NUMBER:
CUSTOMER:
DATE OF SERVICE:
...
...
etc etc
My challenge is with the DATE OF SERVICE record. I have formatted the cell
to the right of DATE OF SERVICE to be:
left justified;
number format: Date.
BUT, when I call up my Template and enter a date such as: 1/5/8 ; instead of
automatically converting my entry to read: "01/05/08" ; as it does in my
spreadsheets, Writer simply leaves the entry as "1/5/8". (I use Australian
dates BTW: dd/mm/yy)
If I then select the "1/5/8", or the cell, and apply the Date number format,
it changes it to 01/05/08, but also Right Justifies it, so I have to then
Left Justify it - altogether too many keystrokes!
Can anyone tell me why I cannot store Date formatting in my Writer table in
the same way I can in a Calc Worksheet?
I am using OOo 2.4 running under Windows XP.
Kind regards, James
