The thing is though that the way the question was phrased the answer is
no...one can not use OO.o the way described.
It has nothing to do with Windows or Linux, it is about a very
particular use case.
Truth is that solving this use case may not actually require any change
to OO.o at all - it is quite possible that one could construct an
extension ( or two possibly, one for each side of the exchange ) that
would handle it.
That is all I am saying.
