Hi

I got one of those quick, time wasting games by email today which was embedded in an Excel spreadsheet. I could open it in work, where I have MS Excel, but when I emailed it to myself at home, where I have OOo 2.4, it wont open in Calc. Can anyone suggest what the problem might be, and how I can fix it? I think the game might be written in Visual Basic, from my brief internet research, so might that be a problem?

Thanks

The fundamental problem is that OpenOffice's Basic is very different from VBA which is what Excel macros are written in. You have a number of possibilities (short of installing Excel on your home computer). In no particular order: 1. Free On-line VBA to OpenOffice Basic: http://www.business-spreadsheets.com/vba2oo.asp (may or may not work) 2. Purchase StarOffice from Sun. This is the commercial version of OpenOffice and has a number of advanced features including VBA support : http://www.sun.com/software/star/staroffice/index.jsp 3. Get Novell's version of OpenOffice.org which has VBA support: http://download.novell.com/Download?buildid=SfgHRzyafeg~
4. Get a friend/colleague/consultant to convert the VBA to OpenOffice Basic
5. Learn OpenOffice Basic (and VBA???) and convert the macros yourself.
6. ???
