Have you investigated output device sensitive stylesheets? I know some web browsers will recognise the output device (screen, voice simulator, printer, PDA etc) and invoke an appropriate stylesheet to address the physical attributes of the device. Not sure how you would use the same here but it may be an avenue for investigation.
