I'm trying to use Impress to present a talk on computer history. I've made up a set of 50+ slides which are all fairly simple text plus some images. I'm using animation effects to bring in points on the slides, but nothing fancy, just a simple fly-in from the left. When I try to run it on an otherwise quiet machine the response is pretty awful - several seconds, and nasty pauses half-way through a transition. The CPU usage of soffice.bin varies between 60-99% all the time, even when nothing is happening. Should this be the case?
I've got problems with getting my projector to work with Linux so it looks like I'll probably have to switch to M$ for the presentation. I've exported a copy as a .ppt and that works fine on an older, much slower Windows 2000 machine. Very sad!
