I assume you're running Windows.
1) Download the latest Windows version of OpenOffice from www.openoffice.org
2) Double click on the downloaded file to start the installation. You
can generally use the default values
3) When the installation is completed, you should see an OpenOffice
folder and icons in your Start menu. You can use the icons to start the
various OpenOffice components.
